A strong, cold, and dry wind that blows from the north or northeast across the Gulf of Papagayo in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. This wind is a regional manifestation of a cold air outbreak from North America, channeled through mountain passes. It can generate significant waves and affect local marine conditions.
