Permafrost table

The upper boundary of permafrost, which is the depth at which the ground remains frozen for at least two consecutive years. This boundary separates the active layer, which thaws seasonally, from the permanently frozen ground below. Its depth can vary significantly depending on local climate, vegetation, and soil properties.
