Dry permafrost

Permafrost that contains little to no ice, meaning the frozen ground has a low ice content despite being at or below 0 degrees Celsius for at least two consecutive years. This condition typically occurs in arid or semi-arid polar and high-altitude regions where precipitation is scarce. The lack of ice makes it less susceptible to thaw settlement than ice-rich permafrost.
