Cryopedology

The study of frozen soils and their properties, including permafrost, seasonally frozen ground, and the processes that occur within them. This discipline examines the formation, distribution, and degradation of permafrost, as well as its effects on ecosystems, hydrology, and infrastructure. Cryopedology is a specialized branch of soil science and geocryology.
