Cryoplanation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004784
A geomorphic process involving the leveling or reduction of landforms in periglacial environments due to frost action and solifluction. This process typically occurs on plateaus and hilltops, where repeated freezing and thawing cycles break down rock and move debris downslope. Cryoplanation terraces are characteristic landforms resulting from this activity.
