Pole tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008048
A small, long-period oceanic tide generated by the Chandler wobble, which is a slight oscillation of the Earth's rotational axis relative to its surface. This wobble causes a periodic redistribution of mass in the oceans, leading to subtle changes in sea level with a period of approximately 14 months. The amplitude of the pole tide is typically only a few millimeters, making it challenging to detect amidst other tidal components.
