Position vector
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008067
A vector in a coordinate system that represents the location of a point in space relative to an arbitrary origin. It extends from the origin of the coordinate system to the point in question, defining its direction and distance. In atmospheric modeling, the time derivative of a particle's position vector gives its velocity vector, while the second derivative gives its acceleration vector.
