Predictability limit
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008122
The maximum time horizon beyond which accurate forecasts of a system's state become impossible due to the inherent chaotic nature of the system. For atmospheric phenomena, this limit is typically around 10-14 days for deterministic weather forecasts. Beyond this, only statistical or probabilistic forecasts of climate trends remain feasible.
