Potential predictability
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008085
The theoretical upper limit of predictability for a given atmospheric phenomenon or system, assuming perfect models and observations. It represents the inherent predictability of the atmosphere itself, independent of current forecasting limitations. This limit is often estimated by analyzing the divergence of initially similar atmospheric states.
