Pressure center

A region of relatively high or low atmospheric pressure compared to its surroundings. High-pressure centers, or anticyclones, are associated with fair weather and sinking air, while low-pressure centers, or cyclones, are linked to stormy weather and rising air. These centers are key features on synoptic weather maps and drive atmospheric circulation.
