Cellular cloud pattern
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004219
An organized, honeycomb-like arrangement of clouds, visible in satellite imagery, that forms in response to cellular circulation within a broad layer of the atmosphere. Two main types exist: open-cell patterns, with clear centers and cloudy borders, and closed-cell patterns, with cloudy centers and clear borders. Open cells are associated with sinking air in the center, while closed cells are associated with rising air in the center.
