Principle of geometric association

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008154

A concept in remote sensing and image analysis that relates observed patterns in imagery to known geometric properties of features on the Earth's surface. This principle aids in the interpretation of satellite and aerial photographs by using shape, size, and spatial arrangement to identify objects. For instance, linear features often indicate roads or rivers.
