Radar wind system
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008282
The complete ground-based equipment used to perform a radar wind sounding. It consists of a tracking radar to determine the position of a balloon-borne target and a data processing unit to compute wind velocity from the positional data. These systems are distinct from wind profilers, which measure wind directly by scattering from atmospheric irregularities without a balloon.
