Captive balloon sounding
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004153
An atmospheric sounding technique where meteorological instruments are carried aloft by a tethered balloon to measure vertical profiles of atmospheric parameters. This method allows for repeated measurements at specific altitudes and can provide detailed data on temperature, humidity, and wind within the boundary layer. Data from captive balloon soundings are used in air quality studies and boundary layer research.
