Sounding
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-002564
A set of measurements of atmospheric conditions taken at multiple vertical levels above a specific location. These measurements are collected using instruments like a radiosonde on a weather balloon, or remotely by a satellite sounder. The resulting data, which include temperature, pressure, humidity, and wind, are plotted on thermodynamic diagrams to analyze atmospheric stability and support weather forecasting.
A set of data measuring the vertical structure of an atmospheric parameter (temperature, humidity, pressure, winds, etc.) at a given time.
