Upper-air sounding
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009911
A vertical profile of atmospheric properties, including temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind, obtained by a radiosonde as it ascends through the atmosphere. This data is plotted on a thermodynamic diagram, such as a Skew-T log-P chart, to analyze atmospheric stability and potential for convection. Soundings are typically taken twice daily at numerous stations worldwide.
