Radar sounding
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008278
The use of radar to probe the vertical structure of the atmosphere, providing profiles of atmospheric properties such as wind, temperature, and humidity. Wind profilers, a type of Doppler radar, are commonly used for continuous vertical wind measurements. This technique offers high temporal resolution data on atmospheric layers, complementing traditional balloon-borne soundings.
