Radioactive dating
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008335
A geochronological method used to determine the absolute age of rocks, fossils, and other materials by measuring the decay of radioactive isotopes within them. This technique relies on the known half-lives of specific radioactive elements, such as carbon-14 or uranium-238. It provides a quantitative timeline for geological and atmospheric events.
