Radiosonde station

A ground-based facility responsible for launching radiosondes and receiving the atmospheric data they transmit. Staff at the station prepare the balloon and instrument package, release it into the atmosphere, and operate the tracking and receiving equipment. The collected upper-air data is then processed and disseminated for use in weather forecasting and climate research.
