Returning polar maritime air

A type of air mass that originates over polar ocean regions, then travels southward over warmer waters, and subsequently curves back northward over land. This trajectory modifies its characteristics, making it less cold and more moist than fresh polar maritime air. It often brings unstable conditions and showers to western coastal regions.
