Saturation equivalent potential temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008658
The temperature a parcel of air would have if it were lifted adiabatically to saturation, all its water vapor condensed and precipitated, and then brought adiabatically back to a standard reference pressure, typically 1000 hPa. This thermodynamic quantity is conserved during moist adiabatic processes and is useful for assessing atmospheric stability and comparing air masses. It accounts for both sensible and latent heat.
