Saturation static energy
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008665
A thermodynamic quantity representing the total energy of a parcel of air if it were saturated with water vapor. It combines the dry static energy (internal energy plus potential energy) with the latent heat content of the water vapor at saturation. This parameter is used to assess the potential for deep convection and atmospheric instability, particularly in tropical meteorology.
