Sferics

Electromagnetic impulses generated by lightning discharges, which propagate through the atmosphere as radio waves. These signals are detected by specialized receivers to locate and track thunderstorms. The frequency range for sferics detection typically falls within the very low frequency (VLF) to high frequency (HF) bands.
