Speed-up wind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009127
The phenomenon where wind accelerates as it flows over or around topographic features like hills, ridges, or mountains. This acceleration results from the compression of streamlines as the air mass is forced to flow over an obstacle. It leads to higher wind speeds on the windward slopes and crests compared to surrounding flatter terrain.
