Topographic amplification factor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009693
A dimensionless quantity that describes the increase in wind speed or other atmospheric variables over complex terrain compared to flat terrain. It quantifies how much the local wind flow is enhanced due to the presence of hills, mountains, or other elevated features. This factor is often used in wind energy resource assessment and air pollution dispersion modeling.
