Turbidity factor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009836
A dimensionless quantity that quantifies the reduction in direct solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface due to atmospheric aerosols and water vapor, relative to a clean, dry atmosphere. It provides a measure of the atmospheric clarity or haziness. A turbidity factor of 1 indicates a perfectly clear atmosphere, while higher values denote increased scattering and absorption of solar radiation.
