Upslope wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009918

A wind that blows up a topographic slope, often driven by differential heating or the forced ascent of air. During the day, solar heating of mountain slopes can create a thermal low, drawing air uphill. This type of wind can lead to orographic lifting, cloud formation, and precipitation on the windward side of mountains.
