Slope flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008939
A localized wind system driven by differential heating or cooling of a sloping terrain, causing air to move up or down the incline. During the day, solar heating of the slope can create an upslope flow (anabatic wind), while nighttime cooling leads to a downslope flow (katabatic wind). These flows are common in mountainous regions and can influence local weather patterns.
