Stationary time series

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009229

A series of data points indexed in time order where the statistical properties, such as the mean, variance, and autocorrelation structure, are constant over time. This property implies that the series has no systematic trend or predictable seasonal patterns. Many statistical forecasting methods used in climatology rely on the assumption that the time series is stationary or can be transformed into a stationary series.
