Steadiness

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009238

A measure of the constancy of a meteorological variable, particularly wind direction or speed, over a given period. High steadiness indicates little variability, while low steadiness implies frequent changes. It is often quantified by the ratio of the magnitude of the mean vector wind to the mean scalar wind speed, ranging from 0 for highly variable winds to 1 for perfectly steady winds.
