Stereographic image

An image or map projection that represents a spherical surface onto a plane, preserving angles but distorting areas and distances away from the projection center. In meteorology, polar stereographic projections are commonly used for weather maps at high latitudes. This projection is conformal, meaning it preserves the shapes of small features.
