Conformal map

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004593

A map projection that preserves angles locally, meaning that the shape of small features is accurately represented, though their size may be distorted. This property is particularly useful in meteorology for representing atmospheric flow patterns, as it maintains the true angles between wind vectors. Examples include the Mercator and Lambert conformal conic projections.
