Stratospheric Aerosol Gas Experiment
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009297
A series of NASA satellite instruments designed to measure the vertical distribution of aerosols, ozone, water vapor, and other trace gases in the Earth's stratosphere and upper troposphere. These experiments use solar occultation, observing the sun as it rises or sets through the atmosphere, to derive atmospheric constituent profiles. Data from SAGE missions contribute to understanding stratospheric chemistry and climate change.
