Subantarctic Upper Water

A relatively warm and fresh water mass found in the upper layers of the Southern Ocean, north of the Subantarctic Front. It forms through interactions between surface waters and precipitation in the subantarctic zone. This water mass contributes to the formation of other water masses as it moves northward.
