Subpolar low pressure belt

A band of low atmospheric pressure encircling the Earth at approximately 50 to 70 degrees latitude in both hemispheres. This belt is characterized by the convergence of cold polar air and warmer mid-latitude air, leading to frequent cyclonic activity and stormy weather. The Aleutian Low and Icelandic Low are prominent examples in the Northern Hemisphere.
