Supercooled water

Liquid water that exists at a temperature below its normal freezing point of 0 degrees Celsius. This state is possible when the water lacks impurities or ice nuclei that would initiate the freezing process. Supercooled water is common in clouds and can freeze instantly upon contact with a surface or an ice crystal.
