Terrestrial surface radiation

The longwave infrared radiation emitted specifically from the Earth's land and ocean surfaces. This energy is a direct result of the surface temperature and is a key component of the planet's outgoing radiation. It is distinct from atmospheric radiation, which is emitted by gases and clouds.
