Thunderstorm tripole

A conceptual model describing the charge distribution within a mature thunderstorm, characterized by three primary charge regions. A main negative charge region is typically found in the middle of the cloud, with a positive charge region above it and a smaller positive charge region near the cloud base. This charge separation leads to lightning.
