Thunderstorm dipole

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009654

A simplified model of electrical charge distribution within a thunderstorm, characterized by a primary negative charge region in the middle of the cloud and a positive charge region above it. This basic configuration is often observed in weaker or developing thunderstorms. More complex charge structures can develop in mature storms.
