Magnetic dipole
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007082
A fundamental magnetic entity characterized by two poles of opposite polarity, analogous to an electric dipole. Earth's magnetic field can be approximated as a large magnetic dipole, with its poles near the geographic poles. This dipole creates the magnetosphere, which protects Earth from solar wind.
