Trade inversion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009740
A persistent temperature inversion layer found within the trade wind regime, typically located between 1 and 2.5 kilometers above the ocean surface. This inversion separates the moist, unstable air below from the drier, more stable air aloft. It suppresses deep convection and contributes to the formation of trade-wind cumulus clouds.
