Trade-wind desert

A type of desert found in subtropical regions, typically on the western sides of continents, where the descending, dry air of the Hadley cell and the stable trade winds inhibit precipitation. The trade inversion further suppresses vertical cloud development. Examples include the Sahara and Atacama deserts.
