Antitrades

Winds that blow above the trade winds, typically from the southwest in the Northern Hemisphere and from the northwest in the Southern Hemisphere. These upper-level winds move in a direction opposite to the surface trade winds. They are part of the return flow of the Hadley cell circulation, transporting air poleward at higher altitudes.
