Tufan

A violent storm, from the Arabic tufan, a word taken into Persian, Hindi and Urdu. In South Asia and the Arabian region it names severe cyclonic storms and tropical cyclones, and it is one proposed source of the English word typhoon, alongside Chinese and Greek roots.
