Persian Gulf Water

A distinct water mass characterized by high salinity and temperature, formed in the shallow, arid Persian Gulf. This dense water flows out of the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz and sinks into the deeper parts of the Arabian Sea. It contributes to the thermohaline circulation of the Indian Ocean.
