Gulf Stream System

A powerful, warm, and swift ocean current that originates in the Gulf of Mexico and flows northeastward along the eastern coast of North America, then across the Atlantic Ocean. It transports a vast amount of heat poleward, significantly influencing the climate of Western Europe and the eastern United States. The system includes the Florida Current, the Gulf Stream, and the North Atlantic Current.
