North Equatorial Current

A broad, westward-flowing ocean current found in the tropical North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans, driven primarily by the trade winds. It transports warm surface waters across the ocean basins, eventually feeding into western boundary currents like the Gulf Stream and the Kuroshio Current. This current is a major component of the subtropical gyres.
