Ultrafine particles

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009868

Atmospheric aerosol particles with a diameter less than 100 nanometers, often originating from combustion processes or atmospheric nucleation. These particles have a very large surface area to mass ratio, making them highly reactive and capable of acting as cloud condensation nuclei. Due to their small size, they can penetrate deep into the respiratory system and have implications for air quality and human health.
