A gusty southeast wind on the upper Lake Geneva, channeled by the Rhône valley from the Lower Valais, and feared for its suddenness and force. It comes in two kinds: a warm, dry foehn type tied to a strong southerly flow ahead of an Atlantic disturbance, and a cold thunderstorm type, when storm outflow pours down the valley and blows from twenty minutes to about three hours.
