Wave average

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010134

A technique for averaging meteorological data along lines of constant phase for a specific wave, rather than at fixed geographical coordinates. This method follows the wave as it propagates, allowing for a clearer analysis of the wave's structure, such as its temperature and wind fields. It contrasts with standard Eulerian averaging, which can blur wave features by observing them at fixed points.
